The Building as Learning Aid (BaLA) initiative is a program in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) that aims to use a school’s physical space as a learning tool. The program’s key features include:
Holistic planning: The entire school infrastructure is planned and used in a holistic manner.
Activity-based learning: The program incorporates activity-based learning.
Child-friendly: The program is designed to be child-friendly.
Inclusive education: The program is designed to be inclusive of children with special needs.
The BaLA concept was originally developed by Vinyas, Centre for Architectural Research & Design, with support from UNICEF.
